European Paddling Bodies Unite to Advance Safety and Technical Standards

British Canoeing Awarding Body was delighted to join fellow European paddlesport federations for the recent European Paddle Pass (EPP) Core Group meeting, a vital step towards creating a unified and safer paddling experience across the continent.

The meeting provided a crucial platform to further discuss the alignment of technical frameworks, enhance safety protocols, and strengthen incident reporting systems. This collaboration is rooted in the belief that Awarding Organisations across the continent must work together to share knowledge and implement a unified technical framework for the benefit of all paddlers.

The EPP Core Group was initially established to drive this consistency. By sharing practices and knowledge, the collaborating federations aim to ensure that the quality of training and safety advice remains high and consistent, regardless of which European country a qualification is issued in.

This collective effort is critical for:

  • Unified Technical Frameworks: Ensuring that essential skills and competency standards are recognised consistently across national borders.
  • Enhanced Safety: Working towards a common system for incident reporting, allowing for rapid identification of pan-European safety trends and risks.
  • Sector Professionalism: Upholding a high standard of qualifications that are based on shared expertise and continuous improvement.

Paddle UK remains committed to this collaborative approach, ensuring that our technical standards and safety guidance evolve with international best practices.
