Description
Please note that this British Canoeing Awarding Body Safeguarding Refresher: Positive Safeguarding Culture eLearning does not meet the requirements of initial safeguarding training.
Most paddlesport participants will have a safe, enjoyable and fun experience, free from harm or safeguarding issues. However, cases of abuse and harm do arise in Paddlesport, unfortunately. The very nature of Paddlesport encourages an open, friendly and welcoming culture. This brings with it a need for knowledge, awareness and vigilance around safeguarding.
By understanding good safeguarding practices, identifying situations where individuals may be vulnerable, and challenging concerning behaviours, we avoid putting those working with children, young people and adults at risk in vulnerable situations. This assists in deterring those with poor intent from working in this area, and therefore reduces the potential for harm.
The Safeguarding Refresher: Positive Safeguarding Culture eLearning is made up three modules which cover:
- Module 1 (Core Module) – An overview of key aspects of safeguarding: understanding the risks, identifying and responding to a concern.
- Module 2 (Positive Safeguarding Culture Module) – the 6 principles of good safeguarding practice, how to embed them in your club/organisation and what some of the positive outcomes can be.
- Module 3 – A quiz to help you reflect on what you have learned in the eLearning.
